E-commerce Shipping & Fulfilment
Your choice of shipping method impacts both costs and customer experience. We help you integrate packaging, service options, and dispatch into a seamless workflow.
Factors Affecting Shipping Costs
Shipping carriers base their pricing on weight, dimensions, and destination. Many services use volumetric weight, which is an estimated weight calculated from the package's dimensions. If a parcel is large but light, the volumetric weight will be the determining factor.
This means that packaging choice is a cost consideration, not just a protection issue.
Practical Ways to Keep Costs Down
- Use packaging that closely matches the product's actual size.
- Maintain a few packaging sizes instead of a single universal box.
- Use poly mailers instead of boxes where the product allows.
- Review what shipping options you offer at checkout – and what customers actually choose.
Warehouse Dispatch
Once packed, orders receive their shipping label and are handed over to the shipping carrier according to an agreed routine. Tracking information is linked to the order so that the customer can follow their shipment.
We will review which shipping services and agreements to use during the onboarding process.

What is volumetric weight?
Volumetric weight is a calculated weight based on the package's dimensions. The shipping carrier uses the higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight when setting the price. The calculation factor varies between carriers and services.
